Impact Earth announces second closing of the Amazon Biodiversity Fund

The Amazon Biodiversity Fund (ABF), a Brazilian impact fund advised by Impact Earth, aims to mobilize venture and early growth capital for sustainable enterprises with a transformational positive impact on biodiversity and local communities in the Legal Amazon of Brazil.

With two new investors on board, the Soros Economic Development Fund (SEDF) and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development of Brazil (BNDES), the ABF has reached BRL 234 million in committed capital. The Restoration Seed Capital Facility supports the fund in accelerating the pipeline and project development of eligible opportunities in the Amazon.

The ABF addresses social and environmental impacts on climate change, ecosystem integrity, conservation of species, livelihoods and wellbeing, sustainable enterprises, diversity and inclusion, and investment returns to local stakeholders. Its second closing is expected to facilitate the next steps towards the deployment of impact capital at scale, using innovative financing instruments tailored to the region, and lead to a multiplied impact potential of the fund for the communities and biodiversity in the Amazon.
